Our History
Beacon Planning Ltd began trading in March 2008 as an independent planning consultancy specialising in conservation and design.
In 2004, Jon and Andy decided to leave the safe haven of a Local Authority planning department to accept the challenge of founding a planning consultancy under the patronage of the engineering company Cameron Taylor. In a short time their company, QuBE, had built an enviable reputation for rigorous, balanced work for an ever-growing list of clients. Within three years QuBE was one of the top 100 planning consultancies in the country (Planning magazine survey 2007) with a fee income in excess of £400,000.
In December 2006, the multi-disciplinary consultancy, Scott Wilson, acquired Cameron Taylor and QuBE became a valued part of their expansive service offer. Although this was clearly an exciting time, Andy and Jon were keen to continue to offer a bespoke and more focussed service and this led to the formation of Beacon.
