Beacon Planning has been appointed to handle the planning application for the new community centre which will be at the heart of Clay Farm - the development currently underway between the village of Trumpington and Addenbrooke's Hospital in Cambridge.

The community centre will be situated within the new development's public square and the building will need to serve a number of functions over and above the perception of a conventional community centre.

Jenny Page, head of planning at Beacon Planning, will work on the project and commenting on the appointment she said: "We're delighted to be on board with a project that will be a landmark building in the Clay Farm development."

The brief for the community centre is in development currently, with a planning application expected by autumn 2013.
