Beacon secures approval for continued use of equine training facility near Newmarket

Beacon Planning has been successful in securing approval at planning committee for change of use of an equine site near Newmarket to allow our client - one of the country's most successful jumps trainers - to continue training operations at their world-class facility.

Our team of planners navigated the grey areas of equine uses in planning law to regularise the use of the site - which had extant consent for studland use - for training activities as well. The seemingly straightforward case in planning terms involved lengthy discussions with the local community to address their concerns about the continued use of the training facility.

Charlotte Burton, Planning Consultant at Beacon, led discussions with officers at St. Edmundsbury District Council, and handled public consultation with local residents and the Parish Council to resolve highways, landscape and amenity issues. We were pleased that our sensitive approach to the particular circumstances of the case secured a recommendation for approval from officers and achieved a successful result at planning committee for our client.
