Judge Business School - permission granted
17 April 2015 | Posted by Joanna Burton
Beacon Planning was delighted to learn that planning permission and listed building consent for the extension of the Cambridge Judge Business School on Trumpington Street was granted at Planning Committee earlier this month.

The former Addenbrookes Hospital building, imaginatively converted in the 1990s to house the University's Business School, is Grade II listed and a particularly distinctive building in this part of the Conservation Area.

Beacon Planning advised the University and its team on the heritage impacts of the extension which necessitated the demolition of the unlisted nurses hostels to the rear of the former hospital building on Tennis Court Road. The improved facilities will deliver additional teaching space, offices, and dining facilities, and will support in particular the School's executive education programme.

The Council agreed that the replacement building, designed by Stanton Williams, is a high quality design that will preserve the setting of the listed buildings and enhance the character and appearance of the conservation area.
