5 December 2016 | Posted by John Dudding

Beacon Planning in cooperation with Cowper Griffith Architects and David Parr House Charitable Incorportated Organisation secure museum status for the David Parr house ensuring its continued use and preservation.

Formerly the residence of the Victorian artisan painter David Parr, planning permission for 186 Gwydir Street ensures that the painted walls and unique interior will be preserved and made available for visits from the public.

The house is a Heritage Lottery funded asset and will now continue to be made available after meeting local policy requirements.

The planning officer noted that the development is compliant with policy for loss of residential accommodation and approval has been given for change of use to enable museum tours of the unique house and its art.
