Trinity College Project Chosen for BCD Cover Story
1 March 2017 | Posted by Sophie Hetherington
The award-winning retrofit of Trinity College Cambridge has been featured on the cover of the Building Conservation Directory’s special report magazine on heritage retrofit

The latest edition of the BCD has featured New Court at Trinity College, Cambridge, as its cover story in a special edition exploring the sustainability of historic buildings. Beacon Planning were involved in the New Court project at an early stage, being appointed by the College as part of the design team to advise on heritage issues arising from the proposals to refurbish student accommodation in Trinity College's Grade I Listed building. The project was a challenge due to the sensitivity of the historic buildings. A balance had to be found between improving the environmental performance of the building and meeting accommodation standards that would serve students well over the coming decades, and creating a scheme that was appropriate to the heritage significance of the building and character of the area.

The project won the title of ''Best Conservation, Alteration or Extension of an Existing Building'' at Cambridge's 2015 Design and Construction Awards, and the team at Beacon are heartened to see the recognition of this great project continue.
