CB1 ‘Highly Commended’
20 October 2017 | Posted by Jon Burgess
Yet another scheme in which Beacon has had a long-standing involvement is ‘highly commended’ in this years’ RTPI Regional Awards.

The redevelopment of the area around Cambridge Railway station was earmarked for potential redevelopment in the 1990s. Beacon team members have been involved in making this happen since 2004 and we produced all the heritage-related work to support the masterplan which was approved in 2010.

Since then, we have assisted with individual applications for the conversion of some key buildings and the redevelopment of others as this new city quarter emerges.

The Royal Town Planning Institute, recognised the importance of this development by highly commending the project in its 2017 East of England Awards. The judging panel concluded that CB1 is ‘an example of good brownfield planning on an important city centre site’.
