A new court with a study centre and student accommodation within the curtilage of a Grade II* listed building

Andy and Jon worked alongside the project architects – van Heyningen and Haward - to provide planning and listed building advice on the erection of a new study centre and student accommodation within the curtilage of the Grade 11* listed Memorial Court designed by Sir Giles Gilbert Scott.  In addition a listed building consent application was made for the creating of new passageways to link the new and existing courts by breaking through the existing buildings.

Andy and Jon drafted the supporting justification and the Design and Access Statement that accompanied the applications and were involved in presentations to City Council officers and the Council’s Conservation and Design Panel.

Planning permission and Listed Building Consent were granted on 8 November 2006 and the building is currently under construction (Spring 2008).

(NB This project was undertaken while Andy and Jon were directors at QuBE).
