Our detailed understanding of planning, design and heritage theory and practice means we are ideally suited to undertake a wide range of research and analysis. Historic buildings and areas are a valuable part of our heritage, demanding skill and care from those who deal with them. Our knowledge and experience means that we are asked by everyone from individuals to private developers and local authorities to give advice on the full range of historic building issues.
Our starting point for all projects is a detailed study of the building, place or space to ensure we have a full understanding before developing proposals or guidance. We undertake:
- Historic building research to identify the key significance of the fabric to ensure the impact of development can be fully justified.
- Policy analysis to support the full range of planning and listed building applications.
- Comprehensive analysis of historic environments to underpin the development of detailed design proposals.
We also have prepared ‘spot listing’ requests for Local Authorities and also representations to English Heritage on why buildings should not be listed. We always aim to give a balanced, well-researched analysis of the building in question.
